Co-produced with Stirl & Rae Media Haus, this documentary delves into the powerful connection between mountain biking, reconciliation, and healing intergenerational trauma. Through captivating storytelling and breathtaking visuals, the film follows the journey of three individuals: Patrick, Thomas, and Tom, as they collaborate with Indigenous communities across British Columbia to build trails and empower Indigenous youth.
As they navigate the complexities of recreational colonialism, the trio learns valuable lessons about allyship, cultural preservation, and the transformative potential of outdoor recreation. With intimate interviews and poignant personal narratives, “Dirt Relations” explores the profound impact of mountain biking in fostering community resilience, reclaiming cultural identity, and rebuilding bridges between cultures.
This documentary sheds light on the deeper societal implications of recreational activities, inviting audiences to reflect on their own roles in addressing colonialism and supporting Indigenous communities. “Dirt Relations” is a moving testament to the power of unity, understanding, and the healing journey that unfolds when we connect with the land and each other.

Transcendence – Capturing the Spirit of Mountain Biking Through Art in Northern British Columbia

Patrick supported this inspiring film as a story consultant to the creative team. He also appears as the narrator in the film. The film recounts the story of how Patrick partnered with Northern BC Tourism and Mountain Biking BC to bring artists and mountain bike clubs together across Northern BC to install art sculptures on trails across the region. The Art & Trails project brought together three artists and one author from communities across Northern British Columbia to capture the spirit of mountain bike trails and share the stories they hold. This is a story of how art and culture transcend the physical act of mountain biking to create a deeper connection to the land and its people. The film was written and produced by Ben Haggar, a writer and filmmaker based in Squamish British Columbia.
Heiltsuk Nation | WágỊísỊa Trail Building Training

In 2025, Patrick, the Indigenous Youth Mountain Bike Program and First Journey Trails partnered with Indigenous Tourism BC to host a series of Tourism and Trail Building Workshops in First Nations throughout the province. This film recounts the story of the Heiltsuk Nation and their efforts to build trails in their community of Waglisla (Bella Bella). Film by Tevan Wilson/Dúqvḷá Media

Stirl & Rae Media Haus | Red Bull TV | Crankworx Slopestyle Event 2021
What does it mean to be an ally to Indigenous Peoples in outdoor recreation and adventure sports? Patrick wrote and co-produced this short film with Stirl & Rae Media Haus for 7mesh Apparel & Red Bull TV. The film highlights and explores the meaning of partnering and allying with Indigenous Peoples to foster meaningful and authentic reconciliation on trails and in the mountain bike community. The film was released for the Red Bull TV global broadcast of the Slopestyle Event for the 2021 Crankworks Mountain Bike Festival at the Silver Star Resort, equivalent to broadcasting during the halftime show for the Super Bowl for mountain biking.
Return to Earth Season 2: Patrick Lucas – the Healer

World renowned filmmakers, Anthill Films, approached Patrick and the Indigenous Youth Mountain Bike Program to develop an episode for Season Two of their Emmy nominated series Return to Earth for Outside TV Plus. Patrick played a central role in crafting the narrative, arranging the shoot locations, interviewees as well as writing portions of the film and advising on the overall story.
